The Swiss Half Fare Card entitles you to a 50% discount on all journeys in Switzerland by train, bus and boat. The Swiss Half Fare Card is valid for one month, including for panoramic routes, gondolas and mountain railways.

Children under 6 travel free of charge.
With the free Swiss Family Card, children aged at least 6 and under 16 travel free when accompanied by at least one parent in possession of a Swiss Half Fare Card or Swiss Travel Pass/Flex. The Swiss Family Card is issued free of charge. To do so, select the number of children travelling with you on the booking screen.
The Swiss Family Card is strictly in combination with a parent and child always travelling together. For grandparents and other relatives, such as aunts and uncles, the Swiss Family Card is not applicable. The child will need to acquire a separate pass or a valid ticket.
No, there is no discount for senior citizens for the Swiss Half Fare Card.
The Swiss Half Fare Card allows you to purchase unlimited half-price tickets for trains, buses, boats, most mountain railways and public transport in more than 90 towns and cities in Switzerland for one month.
An additional ticket is required for using public transport. If you would like to buy tickets within Switzerland, please book directly at SBB Online or present your valid Swiss Half Fare Card at the counter to buy tickets with the 50% discount. Please present your Swiss Half Fare Card together with any additional tickets during inspections.
E-tickets for your mountain excursions can be ordered directly from our shop with a 50% discount.
If you have ordered the Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Travel Pass Flex or Swiss Half Fare Card, please note that this is a tourist pass and cannot be linked to the SBB app. There is a similar product called SwissPass, which is only valid for Swiss nationals and is not part of the Swiss Travel System offer.

The Swiss Half Fare Card is valid for one month from the chosen start date and does not depend on the calendar month. For example, if the Swiss Half Fare Card was purchased with the start date 15 July, it is valid until the end of 14 August.
