The Pilatus ticket entitles you to a return journey from Kriens/Alpnachstad to the Pilatus (2,128 m).
Pilatus Kulm can be reached from Kriens by cable car and panoramic gondola, or from Alpnachstad by cogwheel railway. Combinations are also possible

Questions and answers about the Pilatus
Children under 6 years are free of charge.
Children aged at least 6 and under 16 receive a 50% discount on the full adult price. Free travel for Tell Pass holders / children aged 0 to 5 years / children (aged 6 to 16) with the Junior Travelcard/Children’s Co-Travelcard/Swiss Family Card accompanied by their parents or family members.No, there is no discount for senior citizens.
When ordering, you must enter a specific date on our website on which you would like to go on the excursion. You are therefore bound by this date and cannot change it flexibly.
Tickets will only be fully refunded if you have taken out the FLEX CANCELLATION OPTION and if they are cancelled at least 1 day before travel. You can add the FLEX CANCELLATION OPTION for payment protection in the final step of the checkout process before payment.
If you have not taken out the Flex Cancellation Option, a cancellation fee of CHF 30 will be charged, and a fee of CHF 60 will apply if the cancellation is made between 1 and 3 days prior to travel. If you would like to cancel your tickets, please use our contact form so that our team can deal with your request.Once the purchase is complete, you will receive an e-voucher by e-mail. You must exchange the e-voucher for a valid ticket at the ticket office before you can start your journey with the mountain railway.
The ticket includes a return journey from Kriens/Alpnachstad to Pilatus Kulm and back.
Some mountain railways offer seat reservations for CHF 5. It is recommended to reserve a seat during the summer months, especially at weekends. Once a seat has been reserved, you can no longer change or cancel it. For further information, please contact the railway company.
This depends on which route you choose, whether you arrive by car and park in Kriens/Alpnachstad or by public transport from Lucerne.
In winter, only the gondola runs from Kriens. If you have the opportunity in summer, we recommend taking the gondola from Kriens to the Pilatus first (change at Frakmüntegg), which takes around 35 minutes. You should allow about two hours for your visit (depending on the weather and if you want to eat in the restaurant). You then travel back down to Alpnachstad on the world’s steepest funicular railway, which takes around 35 minutes. This route can also be taken in the opposite direction.The aerial cableway is open all year round except from 07.04.-08.04.2025 & 20.10.-07.11.2025. The cogwheel railway is in operation from 12.05.-16.11.2025. The exact departure times can be found in the relevant timetable.
